Over the next six days I'm going to introduce you to several important concepts you'll need to understand for your job. I'll also call upon our Fitness Inc. registered dietitian, Jennifer Maxwell, who will pose some challenges and engage you in some activities designed to help you apply the concepts you'll be learning. The main focus of this orientation is exercise nutrition. Specifically, our schedule over the next six days will cover the following topics:

Day 1 The Fuel Supply -- We'll train you regarding the nutrients needed to fuel exercise of varying intensities and duration. We'll also discuss the effect of training on the body's use of these nutrients.

Day 2 Carbohydrates -- We'll talk about the role of carbohydrates in exercise and the amount recommended for various athletes.

Day 3 Training Effect -- We'll examine the role of training in helping athletes become better fat burners. We'll also consider the role of fat and exercise in preventing heart disease.

Day 4 Protein -- We'll consider the amount of protein needed for strength-trained, endurance-trained and recreational athletes.

Day 5 Dehydration -- We'll help you learn about dehydration and the methods used to detect and prevent it.

Day 6 Vitamins and Minerals -- We'll focus on the nutrients needed to support optimal functioning of the body systems critical to exercise. In addition, we'll teach you about the need for vitamin and mineral supplements.

This will be a pretty intensive six days' worth of training. Whenever you're ready to begin, click the Next button.
